One of the biggest reasons why WordPress is so popular is because there is pretty much a plugin to help solve any problem you may have. One of the most common problems we get asked about is, “How do I setup 301 Redirections for my site?”. To get this accomplished, we recommend the use of the plugin Safe Redirect Manager. We do not provide access to a site’s .htaccess file, so a plugin is nessesary if you want to do any redirects, such as 301 redirects.
You can get this plugin by either going to the link above, downloading the plugin and installing it on your site, or use the following method:
Log into your site via the WordPress Dashboard and click on the Plugins Tab, then the “Add New” button, that should look like what you see below. In the text field type in the word “Safe Redirect Manager”.
You should see something similar to this come up after the search.
Information on how to use the plugin, and for help with the plugin, you can get assistance from the plugin developers on the plugin’s WordPress.org page.
The plugin allows you to do different types of redirects, including 301 redirects. If you are familiar with using Regular Expressions, the plugin also allows you to write your own redirect rules.
